Anne Daughtry Takes Blue Ribbon at Umpqua Valley

Anne Daughtry won a blue ribbon in the Art Quilt category at the Umpqua Valley Guilter's Guild Annual Quilt Show.  The title of the quilt, The Trees We Hug, is a play on Oregon’s reputation.  The show judge commented on Anne's excellent use of non-traditional quilting fabric to enhance the design.  Fabrics include cotton, fleece lined poly suede, poly suede, velvet, gauze, wool yarn, upholstery fabric, net, and a lot of stabilizer lace.   Techniques included  machine and hand quilting, embroidery both machine and hand,  and painted skies.   For more of Anne's work, visit her website.

How to Achieve a Professional Photograph

There are three ways that are guaranteed to give you the professional results you want every time...regardless of the weather:

1 Hire a professional,
2 Use professional camera with strobe lights in a studio setting, or
3 Take this class!

Class description: Learn how to shoot your work and how to size your digital image to the correct dpi for entry in competitions. You will have instruction in the computer lab in the morning and be in the studio the rest of the day. You will be using strobe lights. These lights will give accurate color. You will leave with several long view and close up shots of one of your art works.

Requirements: Digital camera with a hot shoe, appropriate lenses (+adapter, if needed). Your manual. (If you don’t have the appropriate camera, there is a possibility of renting a camera with advanced notice.)

North Bank Artists Call for Entry

North Bank Artists has issued a Call for Entry for their annual juried fiber show.  Entries are due June 23, 2012.  Strands will be on exhibit in Vancouver, Washington, at the North Bank Artists Gallery during the month of August, 2012.
