FISSURES IN THE NEWS! ART QUILTERS ALERT!

With the eruption of the Volcano on Mount Kilauea in Hawaii a perfect example of fissures comes to
mind. Have you been putting together some of your own interpretations of fissures? That is the theme
for a CALL TO ARTISTS for the International Art Quilt show at the Emerald Art Center in Oregon.

Bridge Exhibit Open at the Bush Barn Art Center in Salem

The Bridge exhibit is officially open at the Bush Barn Art Center in Salem.  An opening reception was held Friday, May 4th for this exhibit as well as 4 other exhibits opening concurrently.  The reception was very well attended by the community.  Approximately 15 SAQA artists were able to attend in addition to artists from the other exhibits.  The venue is beautiful and the show looks wonderful.

Portland Pod Museum Field Trip April 18

The Portland SAQA group will be visiting the Portland Art Museum April 18 at 10:00 a.m. to be bedazzled by the LAIKA exhibit, Animating Life. The fee is $15.99, free to members. MIX Exhibit in Portland

April 20th through May 4, 2018, the MIX group of fiber artists (Hilde Morin, Elaine Millar, Kathy Blondell, Betty Daggett, Annette McFarlane, Lynn Anderson, Diane Losli-Britt and Valri Chiappetta) will have their 16th annual show at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Portland.  This year’s chosen theme is “Weather”, in all its aspects of relevance to our lives, as well as a range of techniques in creating the images, including piecing, painting, fusing and raw edge appliqué to name a few.
