"Along the Rogue" Exhibit in Ashland, Oregon

An exhibit by Rogue Art Quilters, which includes several SAQA Oregon members, is on display at US Bank in Ashland, across the street from Quiltz,  from August 2 – October 29, 2010. Each artist used the same "river" fabric, and the river connects one quilt to the next. You can find more information on the show and photos of the quilts at the Rogue Art Quilters blog.  Shown above is Fishing Buddies by Karen Bates.

Trisha Hassler's Dwellings at Art in the Pearl

Trisha Hassler's new series of sculpture will be presented for its first viewing in Portland at the prestigious Art In The Pearl Fine Arts & Crafts Festival. This exciting new direction turns Trisha's work inside out and allows the viewer to intimately connect with the hopes and dreams found inside these protective dwellings. Come visit the village in Booth #74 and be part of her community.

The Dwellings series reflects the choices we make for living harmoniously with our families and surroundings. The work is inspired by our need to embrace an authentic life experience daily. Each domain is assigned it's own unique address, so we can always find our way home.

By using strong industrial grade steel for the homes, the fragility of our hopes and dreams are protected and nurtured inside. The explosion of fringe around the edges helps entangle and confuse negativity, keeping our dreams safe and sound.

Come see the work first hand and visit with Trisha in the North Park Blocks, NW Everett and NW 8th in The Pearl.

Kathie Kerler Receives First Place at Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum

At the Ocean's Edge by Kathie Kerler

Kathie Kerler was awarded first place in the Evolutions Exhibition at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum for her piece "At the Ocean's Edge." The exhibition asked that fiber artists expand upon the concept of a quilt to create something new in idea, method, or device. Kathie's quilt features a dimensional technique which uses strips of fabric sewn in a figure-eight that is flattened into mobius trefoils of triangular shapes. To see the top three quilts visit the museum website.  (Photos by Mark Frey.)
