the reception.

Thank you to the installation team: Deb Sorem, Judith Quinn Garnett, Karen Spencer, Sheryl
LeBlanc, Sherrie Moomey, Shirley MacGregor and Marion Shimoda.

The exhibit catalog is beautiful and was developed by Parker Bowen, Judith Quinn Garnett and Pat
Fifer. Parker, a student at Pacific Northwest College of Art, also created our Bridge exhibit logo.
Thanks to the catalog team.

The 2017 SAQA Trunk Show
has been exhibited at four places in Portland, and will be at Northwest Quilting Expo at the end of September. After that, it moves on.  Many thanks to everyone who has worked to get this wonderful outreach tool for SAQA out into the world!

2018 SAQA Oregon Conference Update: Plans are well underway for the 2018 conference,
Unpredictable Outcomes, on October 18, 2018, in Eugene, OR. Our Keynote Address will be given
by Pat Pauly of Rochester New York with a full day workshop on the following day. The program will consider art quilting and its place in the general art community: how it relates to other forms of art, and the challenges of curating and presenting fiber art exhibits. It promises an opportunity to meet other members who share your interests and exposure to new interests you didn’t even know you had! We are gathering a team of committee chairs to focus on specific tasks. If you are interested
in working on this fun activity, contact Daisy Schrock (schrock32@gmail.com) or Katie Walwyn
(ktwalwyn@comcast.net)

The SAQA Benefit Auction runs from September 15 to October 8, 2017.

SAQA Seminar 2017 is now in session! This year's theme is all about SURFACE DESIGN and
covers four topics: Dye, Paint, Print, and Other Techniques. All the offerings will be accessible
online, allowing you to peruse everything on your own schedule. More details are available at
www.saqa.com/seminar.

Sherri Culver and I will be finishing up our terms as Regional Co-Representatives this year. Serving
as a Regional Co-Rep is a great opportunity to contribute to the organization and to work with other
local and global members. If you are interested in serving as a Regional Co-Representative,
please contact marion.shimoda@gmail.com or sherriculverquilts@gmail.com or Desiree Vaughn,
SAQA’s Regional Rep Coordinator, repscoordinator@saqa.com for more information.
