CENTRAL OREGON SAQA Pod

Our October Central Oregon SAQA meeting will be on Thursday 10/19 @ 3:00pm at the Stitchin’ Post.  We have an earlier start due to a longer presentation.

This month we will explore the role of a quilt exhibition juror.  Come prepared to step out of your creative role and step into the role of a juror.  We will talk about quilt exhibition concepts and how a juror must select quilts that reflect this concept.  You will then select your show from images compiled by national SAQA.  This presentation is adapted from SAQA’s 2017 Annual Conference and should be very interesting.  As the meeting approaches I will send an assortment of links to articles about jurying an exhibition and being judged by a juror.  Stay tuned...

After the meeting we will be gathering for our post meeting social at a local watering hole.  We had a great time connecting last month at the Sisters Saloon.  It was a treat to spend more time together!  If you have the time, please join us.

For more information, contact Kristan Collins at colorkcc@icloud.com.

He will be here to discuss the exhibit and to see the current work of our members. SAQA members are invited to join us at the High Fiber Diet meeting.

Zeca Medeiros is the curator of the CONTEMPORANEO, the first artistic quilts exhibition in Latin America. His visionary view and work has provided understanding of contemporary quilt as part of the visual arts, gaining recognition from the media and the public. Over the years the exhibition has featured arts from various countries and it is currently visited by thousands of people.

In addition to presenting the history of CONTEPORÂNEO exhibition, Zeca will address in his talk topics such as:  What is necessary to organize the show, the criteria for selecting arts, textile art in Latin America and especially the NEW CURATING PROPOSAL for the coming years. During the lecture, images and videos will be presented for a better understanding of the covered topics.

Also, Zeca is interested in seeing current work from CFG and HFD members.  Please bring one of your current or representative works to show.
