Central Oregon Pod Studio Tour

Studios…what works and what doesn’t  were dissected in a lively discussion at Central Oregon SAQA’s March meeting.  Cork floors, ball chairs and storage behind sliding doors used for design walks were all pluses in creating an effective work space.  Negative...Not enough storage and poor lighting topped the list.

The group enjoyed a tour of June Yaeger’s purpose-designed studio space in her Sisters’ home.

A terrific show and tell included updates on work for the group’s Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show exhibit.

Members Tierney Davis-Hogan and Betty Anne Guadelupe will have a two-woman show at Twigs Gallery in Sisters beginning March 25.  An opening reception will be Friday, March 25 from 4-7 pm

Next meeting will be April 14 from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Stitchin’ Post in Sisters.  This is the SECOND Thursday (instead of the regularly scheduled third Thursday) due to a scheduling conflict.

Symposium Calls for Table-Top Proposals

Oregon Regional Conference

The Oregon Regional SAQA Conference will be held September 22, 2016 at the Willamette Heritage Center in Salem.  We are planning an exciting program for the event and are hoping several of you will be a part of the presentation .

CONFERENCE THEME: New Dimensions . . .  into the future

CONCEPT: Looking at current trends, new ideas, processes, materials, techniques, etc. in the field of art quilting and fiber art.

In your art life:
What tricks do you know that make your work easier?
Are you working with a new process?
Have you developed a new technique?
Have you found a unique material to use in your art?

If the answer is, yes, please consider sharing it with others at the Conference.

THE PLAN: We will offer six members an opportunity to host a demonstration table during the afternoon session.  You can use the table in any way you choose to share what you know with others.  The attendees will be divided into six groups and rotate from table to table every fifteen (15) minutes.

SUBMIT YOUR PROPOSAL:  Write out a proposal for what you would share with the group.  Include as many details as you can.  What will attendees learn from your presentation?  Why is it unique or pushing the boundaries of fiber art?  Send photos, if you have them.If you have presented this to other groups, include information about who and where.  If you will be using messy materials, include your requirements and how you will protect carpeting, etc.

There will be no access to water during the presentations.  No noxious fumes allowed.  Will you require an electrical outlet?
