March Newsletter from Your Oregon Rep

The four SAQA Oregon groups are meeting this month.

The “Blending Poetry & Cloth” SAQA Oregon Regional Exhibit will open at the Chehalem Cultural Center in Newberg on April 4th.  The opening reception will be held on Friday, April 28th from 5 to 8pm.

Our juried “Bridge” SAQA Oregon Regional Exhibit will be open for submissions from May 1-May 31. It is mid-March and the BRIDGE call for entry will open soon! We are very excited to see the beautiful art the creative minds in our region have come up with! As each of you work to complete your pieces, please review the logistics section of the prospectus, located on the SAQA site, beginning on page 5. The specifications outlined are designed to aid in the installation process and the professional look of the art after it is installed. Many of you have experience with these details, but for those of you who do not, please contact any member of the committee with questions. We are happy to work with anyone who has questions.

We welcome Daisy Schrock and Katie Walwyn as our co-Chairs for the 2018 SAQA Oregon conference.  Our third SAQA Oregon Regional Conference will be held October 18, 2018 at Lane Community College, Center for Meeting and Learning in Eugene.

Sherri Culver and I will be finishing up our terms as Regional Co-Representatives this year.  If you are interested in serving as a Regional Co-Representative, please contact marion.shimoda@gmail.com or sherriculverquilts@gmail.com or Desiree Vaughn, SAQA’s Regional Rep Coordinator, repscoordinator@saqa.com for more information and an application form.

Sherri Culver, Sherrie Moomey and I visited the Valley-South meeting this month.  Thanks to the group for their hospitality.  Sherri and I talked about being regional reps and Sherrie Moomey gave an update on the Bridge exhibit.  We enjoyed visiting at lunch, seeing the meeting space at the Eugene Textile Center, meeting members and seeing their work, and watching the demo.
